A Simple, Yet Profound Letter

Dear Rose Park,

I want to share a letter within a letter. A little over a week ago I read a letter written from a little girl to God. It went like this…

Dear God,

I love how you died on the cross for us. I like how you made us.

P.S I think you are the best present in the world.

This is a simple and yet profound letter. It embodies the child-like faith scripture calls us to have and it exemplifies the innocence of a child loving their heavenly parent. In a hurting world like today, we could use a little more simple, yet profound love.

When we see so much hatred, pain, and turmoil on the television-set, we need the simple reminder of how Christ died on the cross for all of us, not just a handful. When our mouths speak or our hands type words of dissent, disrespect, or anger upon another child of God, we need the reminder of how God loves us and made us in His image. And when we seek comfort, hope, and truth in anything beyond Christ, we need the simple and profound reminder that Jesus is the best present in the entire world.

Here at Rose Park, it’s our mission to connect, empower, and reconcile. We do these things, not for our own glory or advancement, but instead to advance and amplify the Kingdom of God. When I read this letter I heard the choir of angels rejoicing, I felt the warmth of Christ’s love, I tasted the sweetness of heaven, and I experienced the presence of the Spirit. It’s my hope that you’ll pass this letter on to someone else so that they might experience these things as well and embrace the Kingdom of God that we already know and love.

The world could use a little more simple and yet profound love; thanks Jade for writing this letter and opening my eyes yet again to the tremendous and overwhelming love of Jesus.

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Mark
