Dear People of Central Park, Embody Christ Fellowship, & Rose Park,
At Rose Park, our mission statement is quite simple: connect the disconnected, empower the connected, and reconcile all things to God. One way we can empower the connected is by inviting our young people to boldly share their faith and to graciously show the love of Jesus in everything they do and everything they say. With that said, enjoy this devotion from Ms. Ava Lemire….
From the desk of Ms. Ava Lemire:
Easter is my favorite holiday; the egg hunts and chocolate bunnies, yum! But Easter is so much more than just the candy and egg hunts. Easter is a celebration of when Jesus died for us and took all of our sins away. Jesus made this huge sacrifice for us. This time of year, we pay extra attention to the Bible and how we treat each other or perhaps how we should treat each other. But once Easter is done we go back to simply reading the Bible once a week or merely doing the devotional and saying “I did my devotional, I’ll read the Bible tomorrow.” But Easter is the time of the year where we press into the bible even more.
Easter kind of reminds me of a birthday. You get presents, get to pick dinner and cake, people are more willing to help you, and get texts from friends that you haven't talked to since your last birthday. My grandma once said “we should treat every day like it’s your birthday”. I am not saying that you should get presents and cake everyday but people should not treat you nicer because it is your birthday, friends shouldn’t just text you on your birthday; we should be showing the kindness of Christ and the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit all year around.
When Easter comes around it’s like a friend’s birthday; you talk to them more, are kinder to them and pay attention because you want them to know that you are there…but Jesus didn’t die on the cross for you to simply make Him feel extra special for just 1 of the 365 days of the year. Instead, He wants us to rejoice in His resurrection every day. He wants us to live without fear and shame every day. He wants us to celebrate Easter every day.
Blessings,
Ava Lemire
