Who Is This?

Rose Park Church,

Be honest, when is the last time you sat down to read the bible? When was the last time you studied the Bible with a commentary, a podcast, or another supportive text? When was the last time you read through the life of Jesus to know the story of our Savior? Regardless of how you answered those questions, reading the bible can be an intimidating feat. We might not know where to start or we might not fully understand the context of what we are reading. If that’s the case, I’d like to extend an invitation.

On Wednesday September 6 at 6:30 p.m we will be hosting Dr. Suzanne McDonald (Western Theological Seminary Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology) in our beloved sanctuary for a four-part bible study entitled Who Is This? Dr. McDonald is ordained in the Christian Reformed Church, but was born and brought up in Australia and came to faith as an undergraduate student. While living in the UK, she began training for ordained ministry in Cambridge, but an inspiring professor and mentor encouraged her to consider whether she might have a calling to theological teaching and writing. After doing her Ph.D. at the University of St. Andrews, she joined the Religion Department at Calvin College in 2007. She taught there for seven years until joining Western Theological Seminary in 2014.

We are so very excited and appreciative that Dr. McDonald would come to Rose Park to lead us in study. She is inviting us to take a look at some insights we could easily overlook about Jesus’ birth, His life and ministry, His death and resurrection, and His ascension and return. It is her ultimate hope to explore the many ways the New Testament declares that Jesus is truly God with us as one of us, helping us to love Him more deeply and live for Him more fully.

Please consider joining us for this four-part bible study on September 6, October 4, November 7, and December 6. Bring your bible and invite a friend or neighbor. Too often, our bibles merely collect dusts on the shelves or even serve as accent pieces on a coffee table. This is an opportunity for you to join a collective group who is eagerly and graciously diving into the words of scripture to see how we can be drawn closer to each other as we’re drawn closer to Him.

We look forward to seeing you in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m on September 6.

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Mark
